FRANK MOHR
XDP DIESEL RAT ROD
Hometown: Kutztown, PA
At the young age of 18 years old, Frank Mohr built this one of a kind, twin turbo diesel powered rat rod on his family farm in Kutztown, Pa known as "Old Smokey." During high school Frank attended Berks Career Technology Center for welding and for his senior year of tech he wanted to build a unique senior project, this is how Old Smokey started. Frank and his father, Lyle Mohr then began the search for an old patina filled truck, they came across a 1940 2-ton dump truck. There was no time wasted, they got the truck home and started disassembling and rebuilding. With the help of many local businesses, Frank began collecting all the missing pieces of Old Smokey. With having to attend school during this build Frank had a lot of late nights and long weekends to complete this senior project. Frank and Lyle were able to complete the truck and have it road legal by the time of graduation which was a total of 8 months. Attending shows along the east coast, Old Smokey obtained multiple show awards. Frank is always adding new performance and details to Old Smokey.
